The first stage foundry enters production phase at the Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant
19.07.2010
In accordance with the construction and commissioning schedule of the Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant the first stage foundry has entered its production phase.
The capacity of the first stage foundry production will amount to 6 thousand tons of heavy and medium-sized railway castings that will ensure the output of more than 4 thousand freight car bogies per annum.
In-house manufacturing of castings is a key solution and accounts for the competitive advantage of the plant construction project. The plant employs an advanced foundry technology on the basis of V-process moulding carried out on Heinrich Wagner Sinto equipment (Germany).
The launch of the main foundry production with the capacity of 90 000 tons of heavy and medium-size railway castings per annum is planned for the II quarter of 2011.
