Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant wins as Russia's Best Employer

Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant (TVSZ), the production center of Russia's United Wagon Company (UWC, MOEX: UWGN), has won the Employer of the Year Award in Industrial Manufacturing at Russia's Federal Employer-2018 Awards.

A total of 170 companies from all over Russia were in contention to be the Employer of the Year-2018. The independent HR-Awards, held annually since 2013, honor achievements in personnel management, building a strong employer brand and creating a socially-oriented HR policy. Winners are selected by open voting on the website Rabota.ru.

The criteria, by which companies are judged, are social impact of their personnel policy, workforce commitment, use of innovative HR technologies, opportunities for career growth and hiring of young professionals.

"Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant is a large and important enterpise, and not just for Russia. We were impressed to learn than the plant is among up-do-date and successful transport engineering enterprises in Europe in terms of investment, production space and the quality of its equipment," said Natalia Moiseenko, founder of the Employer of the Year contest and chairperson of its expert council.

"We take care of our employees, create good working conditions for them, and provide strong social support. If people like going to work, they work well,” said Vitaliy Alekseenko, HR and Social Affairs Director at TVSZ. "We are well established on the market, we have orders, our production is expanding, and we want to attract new employees – we recruit qualified specialists from many regions of Russia."

Other winners at the Employer-2018 Awards include pharmaceutical company Nizhpharm (Stada), Pochta Bank, Heineken United Breweries, SIBUR Business Service Centre, Raiffeisenbank, Yandex.Money and others.

Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant currently employs about 11,000 people at its production site. The average monthly wage is RUB 48,000. The company invests substantial amounts in industrial safety, incentive schemes, training, social programmes, welfare, employee leisure, etc. In 2018, a sum of RUB 520,000 per employee was spent over and above salary payments. Total investments in various kinds of support to Company employees last year were RUB 4.5 billion.
